A visionary idea

Today, IQVIA’s vision is to power smarter healthcare for everyone, everywhere. At the heart of our origin, there was always a vision to revolutionize the healthcare and life sciences landscape, to not only help our customers, but to make a more positive impact for patients.

IMS Health, established in 1954, spearheaded healthcare data analytics. While Quintiles, founded in 1982, specialized in clinical trials and research services. Pairing these two influential entities would mean creating an information and tech-enabled healthcare service provider with global scale and reach that could offer a full suite of end-to-end clinical and commercial offerings.

A synergy of strengths

In 2016, a strategic union brought together the data-driven insights of IMS Health and the clinical research excellence of Quintiles, giving rise to IQVIA. This expanded the application and accessibility of real world evidence in healthcare, marking the beginning of a new kind of company.

A paradigm shift

Post-merger, with the combined capabilities and expertise of the two legacy companies, we believed we were uniquely positioned to tackle the most pressing challenges facing 21st century healthcare.
